In Australia suicide is the leading cause of death for those aged between 15 – 44 year; with 75% of lives lost to suicide being a male. That is over 6 of our husbands, brothers and sons lost every single day. This emerging mental health crisis in Australia is widespread and like most the ripple effect of suicide has impacted my life too.

Similar to most men I have found it hard to talk about feelings and personal struggles, whether it be about family problems or my own mental health. Having focussed on my own personal development, I know options are available for everyone so these struggles don’t have to be a daily occurrence. Often I ponder what life would have been like for my friends if the awareness of services, like Beyond Blue, were common knowledge and the stigma associated with mental health didn’t exist.

To show our commitment to this important cause we will donate $1 from every ring sold to Beyond Blue. I believe that mental health and support for anxiety, depression and suicide prevention is a great charity to get around.

Beyond Blue is a charity aimed at creating mentally healthy environments and support for people across Australia – whatever their age and wherever they live. There are currently 3 million Australians experiencing depression or anxiety. And every day, an average of nearly 8 people take their own life.

Beyond Blue are giving people the confidence to support those around them by equipping people with the knowledge and skills required to protect their own mental health. They are breaking down the barriers that prevent people from speaking up and reaching out about mental health.
