Spring Planning for An Aussie Garden - Planting Guide

by Aaron Gerovich on Sep 09, 2024

Spring is here, and you know what that means – the Aussies are out in full force, basking in the sun! The slightest peek of sunshine has us grabbing our hats and heading straight to the garden.

As we get ready for the entertaining season, now’s the perfect time to freshen up those garden beds, plant some herbs, and get everything in tip-top shape for the months ahead. Whether you’re in Perth or across the country, here are some hot tips on what to plant this spring to keep your garden blooming and your spirits high.

Perth We’re tying up our daffodil bulbs and adding pops of colour with potted plants. Now’s the time to plant chives, mint, chili, dill, parsley, cucumber, cabbage, zucchini, beetroot, melons, silver beet, sweet corn, and capsicum.

Melbourne and Adelaide: It’s perfect weather to plant chives, mint, chili, dill, parsley, cucumber, cabbage, zucchini, beetroot, melons, silver beet, sweet corn, and capsicum.

Gold Coast and Brisbane: Your gardens are ready for basil, oregano, dill, beans, melons, eggplant, cabbage, pumpkin, beetroot, and tomatoes. Make the most of the warm weather and get those seeds in the ground!

Across the Top of Australia: With the tropical climate, now’s the time to plant basil, chili, oregano, mint, dill, lettuce, zucchini, pumpkin, radish, tomato, carrot, capsicum, and eggplant.

Melbourne and Tassie: While it’s still a bit chilly, get your hands dirty and plant sage, dill, mint, parsley, peas, eggplant, cucumber, tomato, corn, cauliflower, and broccoli.

There’s nothing better than tidying up the outdoors, feeling the motivation of the sun on your skin, and planting an edible garden to enjoy throughout the season. Just remember, when you're out there digging in the dirt, diamonds and metal rings are best left inside to avoid damage. Happy planting, mates!
